The Beast from the East
The Beast from the East or just a Blast from the Past?
As a child I was oblivious to the undoubted upset and inconveniences that the annual heavy and prolonged winter snow falls caused people and industry in the 60’s and early 70’s but, with the climate change from then until now, we have become used to a new norm of “milder” winters so its seems odd that with the progress the world has made over these 40 years we have difficulty now coping with what used to be an annual occurrence.
It’s been a while coming and involved a lot of frustration and miles of red tape but finally it’s happening, the start of the new staircase installation which will provide access to the new toilets and an internal connection from the House to the Marquee.
It should have been completed by now but the biggest hold up has been the delivery of materials from Europe where the Beast from the East held up all the lorries involved. Who comes up with these names? It used to be called Winter. A Blast from the Past would be more appropriate.
Not to worry, the nights are drawing out, the Summer Marquee Ball is getting closer and one of our biggest anxieties about the night, whether it would rain or not, is no longer a worry. We hope it won’t but if it does the pre-event Prosecco can be provided indoors.
Talking of indoors….with Raemoir House now being an exclusive and private use only venue there is a lot more scope for us to create and provide something special for our discerning guests as Karla and Keith found out recently. Karla asked if her horse, Rosh, could be brought along for some outdoor photographs but we had other ideas!
There was a bucket and shovel ready just in case due to all the excitement but he was very well behaved. So was Rosh.
